If you want to really do it up – really impress your friends, family or colleagues – get in your car and take the short drive to Destrehan Plantation and check it out.
The setting is truly out of the history books. This Creole plantation was completed in 1790 and was once the largest sugar plantation in the state. Interview with the Vampire, 12 Years a Slave, and portions of Beyonce’s Lemonade were filmed here. We think you’ll find it the perfection location for your wedding; reunion; holiday, anniversary or birthday party; corporate function or conference, too.
Parties here are something truly special. You can have your event outside under a huge live oak tree, draped in Spanish Moss, or rent the Mule Barn, a charming space with an attached catering kitchen and carriageway.
All proceeds from barn rentals go to the restoration and preservation of Destrehan Plantation.
Southern Oaks Planation is located eight short miles from the French Quarter, adjacent to Lake Pontchartrain. They invite you to visit in person and discover the details that set Southern Oaks apart from other venues. They are open for visits Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
